Online Training Proves Effective in Validated Trial
CME in Pharmaceutical MarketingNote that the September 7, 2005 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) reported on the first validated study showing that online CME enhances physcian knowledge and patient care.
The randomized controlled trial evaluated how well doctors learned a set of lipid guidelines published by the National Institutes of Health. In this study, one group of physicians was assigned to case-based interactive online CME; the control group was assigned to a live seminar environment. Both group showed significant retained knowledge after 12 weeks. What is more, the internet trained group displayed a significant increase in the neumber of high-risk patients treated accordinig to the guidelines.
